Thanuja, from Sri Lanka, was treated at the Royal Children’s Hospital in 2001 for lymphoblastic leukaemia but earlier this year he was told that it had returned. He is currently receiving chemotherapy to treat the disease and if this succeeds in putting him into remission, he will need a bone marrow transplant.
